Perrie was born to parents Alexander Edwards and Deborah “Debbie” Duffy. Her parents, who are both singers, divorced when she was very young. Her parents have both remarried. She has an older brother named Jonnie and a paternal half-sister named Caitlin.

Perrie attended Radipole Primary School in Weymouth, Dorset before moving back to South Shields. She then attended St. Peter and Paul RC Primary School, and Mortimer Community College in South Shields. Later, she transferred to Newcastle College, where she received a BTEC in Performing Arts.

Perrie was into music from an early age. In 2001, she auditioned for The X Factor as a solo singer. But she wasn’t selected and later went to work with another rejected contestant Jesy Nelson in the band named Faux Pas.

Their present band partners – Jade and Leigh-Anne – were in another band named Orion. However, they all got rejected on the show. And after some time they worked together and formed the band, Little Mix. The band eventually won the competition and became the first girl group to win The X Factor.

On November 19, 2012, the band released their first album ‘DNA,’ which reached number 3 on the chart list of UK Albums. The girl group has also penned a book “Ready to Fly” and launched their first makeup range with the Collection. To date, the band has released six albums.
